I’m a stay-at-home mom with a part-time photography business and a background in marketing and graphic design. HandyHubs works full-time for a juvenile products company as an industrial designer, designing strollers, car seats, playards, high chairs, activity centers and other baby gear. He has a background in graphic design and loves to build pretty things with wood. And he’s the kind of guy who knows how to do just about everything when it comes to building and fixing. I think he gets it from his dad.
We have three kids, ages 8, 5, and 3. Life is a little hectic. The dishes are never done, the laundry is never folded, and the clutter threatens to steal my sanity.
Admittedly, we’re going into this Popup Camper thing a bit blind. We’ve only been camping together two or three times since we were married 13 years ago, and never with all three kids. But we want to build memories. We want to slow down this too-fast life. We want vacations not to be financially impossible. We want to force ourselves to unplug from technology more often and just enjoy life’s own pace.
I’ve been jealous of a few Facebook friends for a couple years, admiring their photos of camping with their kids in their popups. And I’m mildly obsessed with the tiny house movement. Since we started this camper rehab, it seems like every stranger who learned we were fixing up a popup has said they had one when they were a kid or they had one when their kids were little and it was the best thing ever…that we won’t regret it. So here we go……
